Hey everyone.
Here’s the Week 0 Boxscore and Wagering review.
We typically make notes exclusively for FBS vs FBS match-ups but will make an exception this week.
Let’s go!
Boxscore review:
ACC
Georgia Tech 24 Florida St 21 – WHOA, NELLIE!….What a way to start the season……336-291 yard edge for GT….Noles up 8-CACK early…..Game tied 21-21 with 6:33 to play….Yellow Jackets hold on to the ball for the rest of the game and kick a game-winning FG as time expires to SHOCK the WORLD….GT 190-98 (!) rushing advantage, 0 sacks for Florida St, no turnovers in the game…..Seminoles behind the EIGHT BALL already in ACC play and didn’t look great on OL/DL.
Fireside Chat with MEGALOCKS……
Grab that weenie and some marshmallows and gather around the campfire…..
As noted in our Florida St/Georgia Tech write-up if you’re looking for some SWEET ACTION on a game and can’t decide what to do, consider the following….If you think it’ll be a competitive game and/or a high scoring affair, wait for the first score (preferably in the first 5 minutes) and play on the team that’s behind to get a better number on the game….Once Florida St was up 8-0 it was very easy to grab a +16.5 or similar on Georgia Tech. This obviously doesn’t work all the time, or even most of the time, but it’s a decent idea to keep in your investment toolkit.
Mountain West
Hawaii 35 Delaware St 14 – Rainbow Warriors fail to dominate at 39-point favs vs FCS turd…..Got up 14-CACK but the mighty Hornets fought back to tie the game 14-14 (!)….Hawaii had trouble containing mobile QB Marqui Adams a few times but still managed to book five sacks…..Hawaii might have been looking ahead to this week’s yuuuuge home game with UCLA……331-260 yard edge for Rainbow Warriors who played without #1 WR S McBride (suspended).
Montana St 35 New Mexico 31 – SOUL CRUSHER for the Lobos as they led an excellent FCS team 31-14 after 3Q thanks in large part to a PAIR (!) of scoop-and-score TDs…..Up by 17…..What could possibly go wrong?…..Well Montana St ripped them apart on the ground in the final frame and drove 89 yards in the last two minutes to finish the comeback…..567-324 yd edge for Montana St, Lobos allowed 362 yards rushing.
SMU 29 Nevada 24 – The Mustangs escape with their lives as 4-TD favorites….408-298 yd edge for SMU but they had to come back from a 24-13 deficit in the fourth quarter to pull off the victory….Yuuuge game for TE RJ Maryland 8-162, TD…..Extremely sloppy game for Mustangs as they took a lot of dumb penalties ** and QB Preston Stone looked awful in the first half….better in the 2nd half and more like himself…..D was fine….Nevada couldn’t do much on offense but they were scrappy and QB Brendon Lewis gave them fits with his legs at times.
** does spitting on your opponent count as ‘dumb’?

ACC Futures News: (Miami/SMU)
SMU didn’t look as explosive as we thought. ACC play starts Sept 28 so they’ve got some time to figure it out.
Florida St’s loss helps the Miami ACC future by a percentage greater than zero.
It was great to get college football back! Enjoy the season, PLAY SAFE, and we’ll see you for WEEK 1!
