Colorado St Rams 2017 NCAA Football Preview

College Football Predictions – Colorado St Rams 2017 NCAA Football Preview

2016 Recap

2016 Record – 7-6

2016 ATS – 9-4

That’s four straight winning seasons. Michigan, Florida, Notre Dame and TCU are just some of the teams that cannot make that same claim. They need to take another step forward to be considered a true power in the Mountain West. Only one of their wins last season was really worth bragging about (San Diego St) and that game was essentially meaningless for the Aztecs.

2017 holds a lot of promise. They move into a new on-campus stadium this season. Let’s go !

2017 MEGALOCKS Opening Power Rating

OFFENSE

Get cho popcone. This team is going to be fun to watch. Again.

The Rams’ offense was on SUPAH HOT FIRE down the stretch scoring 42,37,46,49,63 and 50 in their final six games of the year. QB Nick Stevens played well filling in for an injured Collin Hill. Both of them return this season. The RB unit is loaded and features an excellent top-2 (Dalyn Dawkins, Izzy Matthews) who combined for over 1,600 yards and 17 TDs rushing in 2016. Colorado St also has the best WR combo (by our estimation) in the conference with Michael Gallup (1,272 yards, 14 TD) and Olabisi Johnson (21.9 yards per catch) leading the way. The offensive line was outstanding in 2016 paving the way for 218 yards rushing per game while only allowing 13 (!) sacks all season. They only return two starters to the unit in 2017, but if they can exceed expectations, the Colorado St offense is going to go nuts.

DEFENSE

The Rams’ stop unit finished in the bottom half of the Mountain West last season in total defense (419 yards per contest) but look to be a lot stronger this year. Eight starters return in 2017 and there is experience at all three levels of the defense. They lose last season’s leading tackler LB Kevin Davis but bring back 5/7 in the DL and LB corps. The Rams hope to improve in the takeaway department as they only picked off 8 passes last season. Three starters return in the secondary.

SPECIAL TEAMS

PK Wyatt Bryan connected on 11/14 FGs last year. Their excellent punter Hayden Hunt departs as does PR Robert Ruiz.

Potential ATS Trouble Spot

November 4 – at Wyoming. This will likely be a yuuuuge game for both teams but Colorado St will be dealing with their 4th road game in 6 weeks that will have included trips to Hawaii, Utah St and New Mexico.

MEGAmazing Tidbits

10,000 years from now people will still be talking about how the Rams yielded 61 points to Idaho in a bowl game. Wut ?

MEGALOCKS ATS Value Rating (10)          7.0

MEGALOCKS says:

Overall, we give the RAMS a 7.0 ATS Value Rating (Very Good) this season.

We are excited to watch this team. Their offense should be lights out and the defense will be improved. HC Mike Bobo has done a good job so far bagging two winning seasons and a 15-10-1 mark ATS. From a value perspective we worry that this team will be on the DEGENERATE RADAR as an up-and-coming JUGGERNAUT. We just hope we can find at least one more spot like the New Mexico game last year which turned out to be a 4208525984735980347 STAR STEAM MOVE FREE MONEY LATE PHONE RELEASE. If they end up losing to Colorado and Alabama by big margins early in the year it could set up some nice spots.
