The Game

Finish off that tasty Memphis barbecue and get down to the Liberty Bowl as we’ve got a SPICY Big 12 vs SEC match-up. The Jayhawks started out 5-0 (!) and then went GLUG GLUG GLUG down the stretch. WOO PIG has had an up-and-down campaign and come into this tilt having lost three of their final four games. Both teams are 6-6 and looking for a victory to get them into plus territory for 2022.

Let’s goooo !

The Details

MEGALOCKS LINE – Arkansas -1

Arkansas offense vs Kansas defense

WOO PIG has been an inconsistent bunch on offense but they’ve still managed to rush for 223 YPG (#2 SEC) and throw for 230 YPG (#7). They’ll be relying heavily on the ground attack in this one as they’ve endured some serious carnage in the WR room via the transfer portal and quitting. #1 RB ROCKET Sanders is a nightmare for opposing defenses (1,426, 6.5, 10 TD) and QB KJ Jefferson chipped in 510 yards and 7 TD on the ground. Jefferson has a fine 22-4 TD to INT mark but he’ll be challenged to move the ball with the THROW GAME given all the aforementioned losses at wideout. Kansas doesn’t play much defense and they rank #114 vs the run and #99 in terms of pass efficiency defense. They don’t have a lot of depth and played much better in the first half of the season so it’s possible that a bit of time off will help. Maybe.

Kansas offense vs Arkansas defense

The Jayhawks showed that they could be a potent bunch vs mediocre defenses with either of their two QBs under center (J Daniels, J Bean) and note that these two doods have combined for a solid 27-6 TD to INT mark. It’s also important to note that both are legit threats to pick up yards on the ground. They’ve got a 1,000-yard RB in D Neal (6.2, 9 TD) and a deep group of WRs and TEs. Kansas averages 5.6 YPC and 8.8 YPA and that means trouble for Arkansas given that their defense is also PURE FILTH (#103 run D, #104 pass efficiency D). The HITS KEEP COMING when you consider that the Razorbacks will be missing a small handful of defensive starters. So they ain’t gettin’ better, yo.

Trends, Intangibles and More!

WOO PIG is 16-24-3 all-time in bowl action but they’ve been decent in recent times including last season’s 24-10 win over Penn St in the Outback Bowl, a 90,000 STAR MEGALOCKS LATE FAX MACHINE RELEASE SAFE AND EFFECTIVE LOCK winner……Kansas hasn’t been to a bowl game since 2008 (!) when they smoked Minnesota in something called the Insight Bowl so they should be plenty JACKED for this game.

Summary

This appears to be an even match-up so we’ll roll with the more motivated team who’s depth chart hasn’t been decimated in the last few weeks. We also trust Kansas to be able to do more damage thru the air.
