2025 Recap

Record – 7-6

ATS – 5-8

It didn’t seem like there was any reason to panic after Clemson lost at home to LSU in the opener — it was a well-fought game, and we didn’t know at the time how bad LSU was going to be. Then it was time to worry as the Tigers dropped consecutive games to Georgia Tech and Syracuse to fall to 1–3, effectively knocking them out of the ACC hunt. They stumbled for a while and then ended the regular season on a bit of a HEATER, winning their final four contests. Penn St took them out in the Pinstripe Bowl and they finished 7–6, their worst record since — wait for it — 2010, when they went 6–7 in Dabo Swinney’s second season.

Let’s check in with the program and see what kind of potential there may be for a rebound.

Clemson Tigers 2026 Outlook

OFFENSE

2025 By The Numbers (ACC):

  • Scoring: 27.2 PPG (#11)
  • Total Offense: 392.2 YPG (#8)
  • Rushing: 124.5 YPG (#11)
  • Passing: 267.8 YPG (#6)
  • Sacks Allowed: 21 (#6)

The offense was disgusting by Clemson standards, and really not very good, period. They got FLASHES from the passing attack but had a really tough time running the football. Maybe the return of OC Chad Morris will help get things cooking in 2026?

The seemingly endless Cade Klubnik era has come to a conclusion and it’s now time for backup QB Christopher Vizzina to lead the show. Vizzina was a highly-recruited specimen and should have the infrastructure around him to succeed. For starters, Clemson might have the best 1-2 combo at WR in T.J. Moore (837, 16.1, 4 TD) and Bryant Wesco Jr. (537, 17.3, 6 TD), and there are plenty of talented depth pieces at WR/TE to help MATRICULATE the ball down the field. The RB room has potential, but the key components are unproven. Sophomore Gideon Davidson will get a chance to show what all the hype was about during his recruiting cycle, and Jay Haynes didn’t play at all last season due to injury. It’s Clemson, so you know there’s talent there — we just have to wait and see how things develop.

The Tigers will feature three new starters up front, but the group still has plenty of talented specimens including stud left tackle Brayden Jacobs (6-7, 355).

DEFENSE

2025 By The Numbers (ACC):

  • Scoring: 20.5 PPG (#3)
  • Total Defense: 356.7 YPG (#8)
  • Rushing Defense: 105.5 YPG (#3)
  • Passing Defense: 251.2 YPG (#11)
  • Sacks: 35 (#2)

Defense wasn’t the issue last year as the Tigers allowed a mere 20.5 PPG, and that was the lowest total since the days of the 2021 stop unit (14.8 PPG). It’ll be a challenging retooling process as Clemson lost five (!) defensive players to the NFL Draft. However, in a shocking turn of events comparable to the ending of The Usual Suspects, Dabo Swinney dipped heavily into the transfer portal.

The Tigers make everything work based on exceptional defensive line play, and it’s not going to be easy to replace a pair of stars in Peter Woods and T.J. Parker. As you can imagine, there are oodles of talented specimens in the room, and several of them need to step up this season. DE Will Heldt is a beast (7.5 sacks, 15.5 TFL, 12 QBH) and a lethal PENETRATOR, so we don’t have to worry about him. Other promising guys to watch include DT Vic Burley, who impressed our Clemson INSIDERS in the spring game, and DE Jahiem Lawson.

The middle layer of the stop unit boasts one of the best linebackers in the country in Sammy Brown, who led the team in tackles last season (107) while accumulating 5 sacks, 13.5 TFL, 7 PBU, and 6 QBH. Yep, he can fill up a boxscore, yo. The Tigers need to find some new starters in the secondary, and some of the logical candidates include Southern Miss transfer safety Corey Myrick (91 tackles, 2 INT), who’s a HAMMER on the back end, and safety Jerome Carter, who was excellent at ODU in 2025 (76 tackles, 6 INT!). We’ll see how things work out at CB, but the one thing we can say for certain is that they’ve got size, and that’ll translate well in this defense.

SPECIAL TEAMS

The Tigers have one of the best kicking tandems in the ACC in PK Nolan Hauser (17/21 FG) and punter Jack Smith (39.7 net), and they should be able to find dangerous return men based on the talent at WR and DB. Stay tuned!

Schedule Analysis

Overall – The Tigers have a pair of automatic wins in non-conference play, but also have to deal with LSU (A) and South Cackalacky (H). We view the ACC schedule as mildly favorable. They avoid SMU, Lua-Vuh, and Pitt, and get to face Virginia Tech and YOUR Miami Hurricanes at home. Unfortunately, they miss out on the opportunity to dish out beatings to Boston College and Stanford.

Potential ATS Trouble Spot – at Syracuse (Nov 7)

This is the second of back-to-back road games and they’ll be coming off a pair of tough ones (Virginia Tech, at Florida St). It’s never easy to win in the Dome, and Syracuse will relish a chance to SHOCK the WORLD once again. Will Clemson have enough in the tank to administer revenge for last season’s home loss to the ’Cuse? Not a place we’ll be itching to back the road favorite.

Season Win Total

Market consensus – July 11

Over 7.5 -140

Under 7.5 +120

MEGALOCKS says:

Lean: Over

The offense isn’t going to be lights out, but the defense sure might be. Eight wins seems like a fair ask.

Note – Our official list of season win total investments will be posted in the blog section of the website.

MEGAmazing Tidbits

The entire city of Clemson has only about 19,000 permanent residents. On game day, Death Valley casually absorbs 80,000+ screaming maniacs. The whole town basically gets swallowed whole by football for 12 hours. It’s less “college town” and more “a small town that wakes up one morning and discovers it’s been annexed by Death Valley.”

After every Clemson score, the Tiger mascot does push-ups equal to the total points on the board. The all-time single-game record is 465 push-ups (set during an 82-24 thrashing of Wake Forest in 1981). Some observers overheard random hot chicks saying, “MEGALOCKS can do 465 push-ups in his sleep. Have you seen his GUN SHOW?” That definitely needs a fact check, but we’ll trust the observers for now.

MEGALOCKS Forecast:

Yikes. Last season was a splash of cold water in the face for Clemson fans used to mopping the floor with basically, well, everyone. We’re not gonna give up on these guys yet, as the defense has the potential to be stellar, and the offense will be improved if the new starting QB isn’t a bust. Time will tell. The schedule is fair, and while this isn’t YO MAMA’S Clemson squad, we view them as a live longshot to make it to the ACC Championship Game, and then who knows?

Hold that Tiger!
