The Game
The Toledo Rockets look to keep their perfect conference record intact when they face the Ohio Bobcats Thursday night. The Rockets have won all three of their MACtion games by a TD or more. The wacky Bobcats are sitting at 5-3 and only have one conference loss so far (3-1).
The Match-Up
Toledo offense vs Ohio defense
The #1 rated passer in the FBS is not Jake Browning. It is not Baker Mayfield. It is Rockets’ QB Logan Woodside. Yes, we are talking about a MACtion QB BUT he has been excellent this season throwing for 28 TDs and only 4 INTs. We had a front row seat to his brilliance in a 17347123984 STAR MEGALOCKS loser week one vs Arkansas St. The Toledo offense is incredibly difficult to defend due to their great OL and powerful running game. Ohio can play some defense (#30 FBS) but have not faced many decent passing games this season so we have truly yet to see how good this secondary can be vs an elite passer. If Toledo is able to run the ball we forecast some carnage when Ohio focuses on stopping the run. Toledo has scored 31+ in every game this season.
Ohio offense vs Toledo defense
Ohio managed to scrape out 34 points in their last two games combined against E Michigan and Kent St. They have not managed to get the offense fired up yet this season even though they do have a decent running game. Their has been inconsistency at QB and MEGALOCKS MAC EAST DEEP INSIDERS tell us that Quinton Maxwell is going to get another start at QB for Ohio. He is less experienced than G Windham but probably has more upside. Either way, Ohio will have to play solid D and play turnover-free football on offense to have a shot.
MEGA-MAZEMENT !
If we are to believe the history books Ohio has not won in Toledo since 1965….We are pretty sure the Beatles were big back then…..That is 15 straight losses…..Another big challenge for Ohio is that Toledo is excellent on 3rd downs (3rd FBS offense, 2nd on defense !!)
Summary
It feels like it might be too many points. On the other hand, it could be a beating if the Ohio secondary is unable to control the Toledo passing attack. We cannot back the Bobcats in this spot as they have not shown the ability to score enough points against decent teams to cover even a big spread like this one.
Conclusion
Official play: None.
Lean: We could support small potatoes on the Ohio TT under 20 or better.
