2021 Recap

Record – 9-4

ATS – 6-7

“We’re going STREAKING!” <Frank the Tank> <Old School> <2003>

Army blasted out of the gate on a four-game HEEEETER, followed that up with a three-game skid, then turned their fortunes around with a four-game winning streak. They fell to their hated rivals from Navy (L 17-13) to end the regular season but managed to finish on a strong note by taking down Missouri in the Armed Forces Bowl.

Army West Point Black Knights 2022 Outlook

OFFENSE

The Black Knights just DO WHAT THEY DO, and they do it well. They’ve rolled for 281,273,297, and 312 yards on the ground with their option attack over the L4Y and do a great job of frustrating opposing defenses with their efficiency (#9 FBS 3rd downs, #7 4th downs, #2 time of possession LY). The top-two RBs return for duty and recall that Jakobi Buchanan booked 12 rushing TDs LY whilst the electric Tyrell Robinson rushed for 609 yards (8.5) (!) and averaged 28.3 yards per reception. #1 WR Isaiah Alston also averaged over 20 YPC LY so you can’t completely sleep on the Army THROW GAME. Two of their top-three QBs are gone (combined 9-0 TD to INT, 8 rush TD) but Tyhier Tyler has quite a bit of experience, and unlike Navy recently, the Black Knights always seem to find a decent QB or three. Army should DO WHAT THEY DO but keep an eye on the impact of the new cut blocking rules.

DEFENSE

Army did another good job on defense LY (#15 total offense) and they were particularly stingy vs the run (118 YPG, #16 FBS). They managed to book 30 sacks but allowed too many yards thru the air and were a bit soft on 3rd downs (#72). They need to replace quite a few seniors and will be without three of their top-four tacklers from a season ago. The good news, besides always playing smart and tough, is the return of their superstar LB Andre Carter (2nd team AA) who booked an impossible 15.5 sacks in 2021. The secondary boasts a pair of excellent players in CB Jabari Moore and safety Marquel Broughton (#2 tackles, 6 PBU, 2 INT). The DL is undersized and less experienced coming into the season but they always seem to make it work.

SPECIAL TEAMS

They’re in good shape. Tyrell Robinson is a threat to take it the HIZZY CRIBBY at any time and PK Cole Talley hit 8-11 FG LY (1-3 40+).

Schedule Analysis

Overall – Pretty good-looking, yo. They don’t have a killer road game like the last number of years (Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Michigan, Sooners, Buckeyes) and only have to deal with four true road games.

Potential ATS Trouble Spot – October 22nd – ULM

Air Force is on deck and the Black Knights are just 18-24 as home chalk L10Y (.429).

Season Win Total

per Betonline June 19

Over 8 -125

Under 8 -105

MEGALOCKS says:

Lean: Over

The schedule looks tasty and they’ve booked 8+ wins every year except one since 2016 (!). **

** read that again. Yup, impressive.

MEGAmazing Tidbits

When Navy upset Army last season it meant a three-way tie for the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy. That was the first time there was such a tie since 1993. The physical trophy remains with Army as they won the title during the 2020 PLANDEMIC season.

MEGALOCKS Outlook:

Rinse, repeat. This has the look of yet another successful Army football squad. They should be able to navigate the schedule from start to finish without too much trouble and are gonna be motivated to take down Navy in the season finale. Eight wins is our best guess as they have a few tough games and they aren’t a super-reliable favorite all the time.

Let’s go!
