College Football Week 10 in Review!

Hey, everyone.

Another great week of action is in the books! It’s hard to believe we are already into November. Lots to talk about. Let’s go!

The BIG games

ROLL TIDE 29 LSU 0

The Crimson Tide dominated from start to finish and outgained the Tigers 576-196. LSU fans are probably frustrated with the result but Alabama is on a different level right now. The Tigers are more than capable of winning their final three games and finishing up with a fine record of 10-2. That would be their first 10+ win season since 2013.

Michigan 42 Penn St 7

Whoa, Nellie.

The Wolverines are moving like a TREMENDOUS MACHINE and laying waste to everything in their path. All they need to do is convert a few lay-ups (Rutgers, Indiana) to set up an epic showdown with Ohio St. The Buckeyes have a tough game at Sparty this week and the Michigan St defense is playing fantastic as we go to press.

Georgia 34 Kentucky 17

The Bulldogs wrapped up the SEC East with a convincing road win over Kentucky. The rushing attack was just too much for the Cats as they pounded out 331 (!) yards on the ground and led from gate to wire. Bigger fish to fry for Georgia as they need a clean finish before they face ROLL TIDE in December for all the SEC marbles.

West Virginia 42 Texas 41

Wildly entertaining game with a phenomenal throw by Will Grier late to send the game to OT! Oh, wait. The Mountaineers are going for two! They got it! Hold the phone. Texas timeout. Here we go again. Grier runs it in! Great job by West Virginia. Big 12 football has been amazing so far this season. So many close games and the conference is very competitive. Texas QB Sam Ehlinger impresses us more and more each time we watch him play.

Oklahoma 51 Texas Tech 46

Fantastic late night fare as the Sooners and Red Raiders traded punches for 60 minutes. Texas Tech jumped out to an early lead and lost their starting QB but kept battling even after it looked like Oklahoma might pull away. QB Kyler Murray is ridiculous. That is all.

MEGALOCKS TOP 10 after WEEK 10

This is how we rate teams based on who would win a theoretical match-up on a neutral site. It is NOT meant to be a “playoff” ranking.

  1. ROLL TIDE – They are a sophisticated football ROBOT sent back from the year 2439 to destroy everything in their path. Just kidding. Not really.
  2. Clemson – Won their last four conference games by a combined score of 240-36. Yup. Facts.
  3. Georgia  – “They are who we thought they were!” Decisive wins over Gators and Wildcats.
  4. Michigan – Getting better every week. Game with Ohio St Nov 24th looms large.
  5. Notre Dame – Taking care of business. Very balanced football team.

Next in line (in alphabetical order)

LSU – Still a handful and #8 in our power ratings.

Ohio St – Defense is sketchy. Still very talented.

Oklahoma – MEGALOCKS home gamers take note they are just a point back of the Irish in our power ratings.

Washington St – Sitting with a few teams tied at #10. We need to include them on the list this week out of respect.

West Virginia – Yes, guy. Would love to see these guys in the Big 12 Championship Game. Still some work to do.

How is our predicted FINAL FOUR looking right now?

ROLL TIDE, Georgia, Clemson, Wisconsin.

Alabama and Clemson are clearly the two best teams at this point BUT there is still a lot of football to be played. Georgia is hitting their stride and have the look of a team that could give ROLL TIDE a game in the SEC Championship.

JUGGERNAUTS and JABBAWOCKEEZ

Don’t look now……but these under-the-radar squads have a shot to win a division crown and maybe more!

Pittsburgh – The Panthers are sitting atop the ACC Coastal division with only one conference loss. Their last three games are all winnable particularly considering how Virginia Tech and Miami are playing as we head into November.

Iowa St – The Cyclones might be playing the best football in the entire conference right now. They are a game back in the loss column and still have a shot to make it to the Big 12 Conference Championship game if they get some help with the results from other games.

Northwestern – Yawn. Hey look? The Wildcats are good again. They have the lead in the Big Ten West and it would be great to see them get a shot at Michigan or Ohio St.

Buffalo – So great to see these guys playing rock solid football! They have a yuuuuuge game at Ohio on November 14th. Two years ago these guys bagged two wins are are now close to getting the the MAC Championship with a team chalk full of really good players. And if they don’t get to the college football playoff, maybe they can take the lead of other whiny schools and put up a 2018 College Football Championship banner on campus to say they are better than Alabama? Nah. They are above that, yo.

Utah St – LOVE these guys. If Boise loses this week vs Fresno they are a virtual LOCK to make the conference title game.

Arizona St – The FIGHTING HERMS laid a beating on Utah this Saturday and now the Utes will be without their starting QB. The Sun Devils are part of a FOUR-way (!) tie in the PAC 12 South and can take it all down if they run the table.

ULM – The Warhawks are taking care of business and are in first place in the Sun Belt West. Every year there is a small school we REALLY want to see do well and the Warhawks top the 2018 list. They already have five wins and just need one more to become bowl eligible. SMOKING HOT MEGALOCKS INTERNS are already thinking about planning a bowl road trip to see these guys try and win their first ever bowl game.

SEE YOU ALL NEXT WEEK!

Enjoy week 11!
