College Football Week 4 in Review!

Hey, everyone!

Another great week of college football. As per usual there were great performances, upsets and crazy finishes!

The BIG games

Stanford 38 Oregon 31 (OT)

The Cardinal needed a miracle (or six) to get the game to OT……And then you knew what was going to happen. The Ducks still have a shot to get back into the divisional mix BUT need to beat the Huskies and then get some help. Stanford visits the Irish this week.

Texas 31 TCU 16

The Longhorns took advantage of sloppy play from the Horny Toads (4 turnovers) and made it back-to-back impressive wins (USC, TCU). A massive showdown is looming in two weeks when they take on the Sooners. TCU is still capable of getting back in the Big 12 race but their margin for error just got really small.

Wisconsin 28 Iowa 17

The Badgers bagged a couple of late TDs (one was REALLY late) and won a SNOT BUBBLER over Iowa. That puts Wisconsin in the driver’s seat for a divisional crown given the way the rest of the Big Ten West looks this season.

MEGALOCKS TOP 10 after WEEK 4

This is how we rank the teams based on who would win a theoretical match-up on a neutral site.

  1. ROLL TIDE – They are a sophisticated football ROBOT sent back from the year 2439 to destroy everything in their path. Just kidding. Not really.
  2. Georgia – Needed defense and special teams to beat the scrappy Missouri Tigers and their NFL-bound QB.
  3. Clemson – QB Trevor Lawrence is adding another level of WOW to this squad.
  4. Ohio St – Get their second big test of the year on Saturday vs Penn St. That is must-see TV.
  5. Oklahoma – They are fraction ahead of a few teams on our list. Got all they could handle from Army this week (28-21 OT win).

Next in line (in alphabetical order)

LSU – Get a bit of a breather this week (?) vs Ole Miss before games against Florida and Georgia.

Michigan – Week one loss to Notre Dame looking better and better.

Penn St – Looks like we underestimated them but will know for sure this weekend.

Notre Dame – Change at QB worked wonders at Wake Forest. Schedule looking more manageable now than it did at the start of the season.

Washington – Still the most talented team in the PAC-12.

Wisconsin – Got the big road win they needed.

On the bubble……Auburn, Stanford, West Virginia

How is our predicted FINAL FOUR looking right now?

ROLL TIDE, Georgia, Clemson, Wisconsin.

Still feel pretty good that ROLL TIDE and Georgia will find their way into the playoff. Clemson’s schedule is very manageable and they will be deadly with QB Lawrence under center. Wisconsin still appears to have a clear path to the Big Ten Championship.

JUGGERNAUTS and JABBAWOCKEEZ – Under the radar teams

In no particular order.

Texas A&M – Two losses but those came to ROLL TIDE and Clemson. Do not overlook this team the rest of the way.

Miami – Week one loss to LSU not looking as bad and a new QB is on the scene.

Duke – Well-rounded team with a rock solid defense. Miami better pay attention.

Kentucky – SHOCKED the WORLD twice already (Florida, Mississippi St). Defense is LEGIT and have a star RB.

Washington St – Could have easily beaten USC. We underrated these guys at the beginning of the season.

Texas Tech – WHOA. Getting great QB play and the D is actually…..maybe……decent?

Virginia – They are no longer a pushover.

Utah St – Yes. They can win the Mountain West.

Army – THE best service academy football team right now.

North Texas – These guys are going to be a really tough out in C-USA play.

Buffalo – Don’t look now but they are as good as anyone in the MAC.

UNLV – Look like a bowl team to our LOOK LIKE A BOWL TEAM IDENTIFICATION INSIDERS.

Coastal Carolina – Yes, guy! One of the best surprises so far. Need to hold it together.

SEE YOU ALL NEXT WEEK!!

Enjoy week 5.
