WHOA, NELLIE!
It was a great season for the JUGGERNAUT Connecticut Huskies as they blew past season win total expectations **** and not only made a bowl game, but they took down mighty North Carolina in the Fenway Bowl whilst posting nine wins over the course of the campaign. It was their first winning season since 2010 (!) and recall that they had close shaves vs Duke (A), Wake Forest (H), and Syracuse. So close to double-digit victories!

What can the Huskies do for an encore in 2025?
Connecticut Huskies 2025 Outlook
OFFENSE
UConn brought a sneaky-good offense to the table LY as they averaged almost 400YPG (398, #56) and scored 30+ points on six occasions. The Huskies relied heavily on a very productive rushing attack (199 YPG, #21, 5.0 YPC) and the good news is that two of their top-three RBs are back for duty in Cam Edwards (830, 8 TD, 5.7) and Mel Brown (673, 5.7). Starting QB Joe Fagnano had a sparkling 20-4 (!) TD to INT mark LY and he’s got some nice targets to utilize in the THROW GAME including #1 WR Skyler Bell (860, 17.2, 5 TD LY), TE Louis Hansen (4 TD), and WR Chris Parker who rolls in from Central Michigan. Parker led the Chips in receptions (29) and receiving yards (360) in 2024 whilst dealing with one of the worst QB rooms on the planet. The OL returns just one starter but he’s a good one in center Wes Hoeh and it’s important to note that they bagged OL Ty Chan from Notre Dame (!) who’ll start somewhere up front and add extra credibility to the group. We expect more good things from the Huskies’ offense provided that the offensive line doesn’t take a significant step backwards after a fine 2024 season (5.0 YPC, #28; 14 sacks allowed, #13!).
DEFENSE
The Huskies made impressive strides LY allowing just 346 YPG (#46) after giving up 407 YPG (#98) in 2023. The majority of the starting front six (3-3-5 alignment) needs to be replaced including the vast majority of their key PENETRATORS so they’ll have to rely heavily on new faces. Some of the key newcomers include LB Bryum Parham (Washington; over 100 tackles with San Jose St in 2023), LB Tyquan King (Temple; 111 tackles, 3 sacks LY), and safety Tyrece Mills (Penn St). UConn appears to have done a good job restocking the DL with several transfers including a 290-pound DT specimen from Nebraska in Vincent Carroll-Jackson. There’s a lot of uncertainty in terms of how all these guys will work together but HC Jim Mora is one of our favorites and he’s got a good defensive mind. We’ll call for a similar overall level of defensive performance this season with our primary concern being the ability to get to the QB.
SPECIAL TEAMS
The Huskies came in at a very respectable #66 in the Phil Steele special teams rankings LY and they retain reliable PK Chris Freeman (20-26 FG, 49-49 XP), punter Connor Stutz, and KR Mel Brown who took one 96 yards all the way to the HIZZY CRIBBY last year vs Massachusetts.
Schedule Analysis
Overall – It doesn’t look too bad. The Huskies only have to deal with three Power Four teams (four in 2024) and Boston College (A) and Duke (H) aren’t impossible tasks. They’ve gotta travel to face Syracuse this year but they played the Orange tough in the dome last season (L 31-24). There’s a soft batch of five or six games that’ll provide a nice buffer to help them get back to bowl season. The Huskies only have one road game in November and that’s the season finale vs an average FAU squad.
Potential ATS Trouble Spot – at Buffalo (September 27)
Revenge is a dish BEST SERVED COLD and the Bulls will definitely remember the SPANKING that UConn administered in Storrs LY when they were drilled to the tune of 47-3 ****.

MEGALOCKS says:
Lean: Over
We side with the ‘over’ players in the market as the schedule isn’t that tough and the upside is definitely greater than the downside with this team. On the other hand, it’s not like getting to eight wins is a common occurrence for Connecticut.
Note – Our official list of season win total investments will be posted in the blog section of the website.
MEGAmazing Tidbits
The Huskies ranked a sparkling 4th (!) in 3rd down conversion defense LY (29.7%) under new DC Matt Brock, formerly of YOUR Mississippi St Bulldogs.
HC Jim Mora is 12-7 at home with the Huskies but just 5-12 in true road games.
In the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Katrina back in 2005, something known as Slate magazine **** proudly named Storrs “America’s Best Place to Avoid Death Due to Natural Disaster.”
**** Allegedly, a communist rag.
MEGALOCKS Forecast:
We’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for these guys dating back to their time in the Big East when they had solid teams under the tutelage of your boy Randy Edsall. We expect the offense to be dangerous and if the defense comes together quickly, these guys will have another excellent season. We’ll call for eight wins and a bowl appearance for the Huskies.
