Florida vs Georgia – College Football Predictions

The Game

It’s here, yo. FLORIDA. GEORGIA.

The Gators got off to a rocky start with an early loss to the JUGGERNAUT Kentucky Wildcats but have rattled off five wins in a row to enter the game at 6-1. The Dawgs also sport a record of 6-1 with their only loss coming on the road at LSU two weeks ago. The winner of this game will be in great shape in the SEC East. Let’s go!

The Details

The Match-Up:

Florida offense vs Georgia defense

HC Dan Mullen and staff have done a fine job getting QB Feleipe Franks in a position to be a productive QB. Franks is only completing 57% of his passes but he has a good 15-5 TD to INT ratio and the team is averaging 13.6 yards per reception. 19 different players have caught a pass. The three-headed monster at RB (Perine, Scarlett, Pierce) has tallied 8 rushing TDs. There is enough balance to the give the Bulldogs’ defense some problems. They will need to put forth a better performance than the LSU debacle as they allowed the Tigers to roll for 475 yards of offense. They need to show more discipline and tackle a bit better this week. You know Dan Mullen is going to have a good game plan.

Georgia offense vs Florida defense

The Bulldogs are still a supremely dangerous offense (#23 rushing, #7 passing efficiency). Prior to the LSU game they had scored 45,41,49,43,38 and 41 points. Some of that production came from defense and special teams but this team can still put the hurt on you. Jake Fromm is having a productive season (13-4 TD to INT, 9.5/attempt) and we may see talented freshman Justin Fields make a guest appearance. The running game is solid and Florida has displayed a SOFT UNDERBELLY at times. Florida has forced 18 turnovers (#2 SEC) so the Dawgs will need to play a clean and efficient game to cover this number. Possible, for sure. <grabs popcorn>

Trends, Intangibles and More!

Georgia smashed the Gators’ teeth in last season 42-7……Both teams have been excellent kicking FGs this season so don’t expect many points to be left on the field.

Summary

It’s another signature college football game. We love these clashes. Florida has definitely shown themselves to be a worthy contender in the SEC East race BUT have we seen their best already? We are intrigued by catching 7 points in this game but believe that the upside lies with Georgia. The small issue is that the Bulldogs need to show it on the field. Time is running out.

It sounds horribly cliche but the winner of the turnover battle will almost certainly win and cover this game. We haven’t seen a tight GA/FLA game in a while. Hopefully this will be the year.

We don’t have a play on this one yet. The spread and total both look like tough numbers to beat.

Conclusion

Official play:  None.

Side: Slight lean to Florida

Total: No leanage.

Note:

‘Lean’ implies we are comfortable suggesting ‘small potatoes’ on the game. Nothing more. < but always stay tuned for updates >

‘Slight lean’ implies we are almost certain to avoid the game and/or total from a betting standpoint even for ‘small potatoes’. We give an opinion for those who need to get down and want advice.
