Can they do it again ?
Last week the Aztecs moved to 2-0 with a road win over PAC 12 squad Arizona St. This week the challenge is a lot tougher as they take on ANOTHER PAC 12 school (Stanford) but at least they get this one at home. San Diego St looks to have the same winning recipe going on as they are running the ball well and playing great defense. Meanwhile Stanford is coming off a POUNDING courtesy of the USC Trojans. They sit at 1-1. Two teams with similar styles go head to head.

The Match-Up
Stanford offense vs San Diego St defense
The Cardinal offense has been pretty good so far but will be in for a stern test on Saturday. RB Bryce Love is off to a fantastic start with 340 rushing yards at 11.3 (!!) yards per carry. QB Keller Chryst has been solid throwing 4 TD passes vs INT so far after two games. It won’t be easy to navigate the Aztec defense that is always stingy and allowed just 342 yards to a very good Sun Devils offense last week. The strength of the San Diego St defense is stopping the run so it will be very interesting to see how this chess match works out. We can see Stanford getting into the low-mid 20s due to their efficiency and excellent coaching but that is probably the high water-mark.

The Aztecs also boast a star RB in Rashaad Penny who has already rushed for 413 yards in two games at 10.6 (!!) yards per carry. QB Christian Chapman has been efficient completing 64% if his passes while sporting a decent 3-1 TD to INT ratio. The Cardinal had no answer for the Trojans’ run game last week getting ripped apart for over 300 yards on the ground. It seems to reason that the Aztecs should have some success on offense this week. We are just not sure if the Stanford defensive performance was a sign of things to come or if it was just USC being beyond awesome. Time will tell.
MEGA-MAZING MORSELS
Both teams have big conference games on deck…..Stanford tackles UCLA whilst the Aztecs take on Air Force……TREND GUY is in a bind as the Cardinal is 9-3 ATS L12 on the road while San Diego St is 5-13 ATS L18 vs the PAC 12……Will also note that Aztec home games are on a 15-6-1 run to the under L22.
Summary
These teams are incredibly similar. And what a surprise – they are both excellent winning programs. Defense and running still works. We have to believe taking the points is the way to go in this one BUT we cannot recommend a full play since we need to see how Stanford responds after last week’s defensive DEBACLE.
Conclusion
No official play. Strong lean to the Aztecs and also a bit of leanage to the under.
