The Game
The Tigers look to get in the win column on Saturday when they take on MAC opponent Eastern Michigan. Missouri lost on the road in week one to W Virginia. Meanwhile, your Eastern Michigan Eagles beat up on FCS opponent Mississippi Valley St who were without star WR Jerry Rice.
The Match-Up
Missouri offense vs Eastern Michigan defense
Drew Lock has a ton of potential. He looked pretty good last week vs the Mountaineers (23-51 280 1-0) but did not engineer enough points considering they had 462 yards total offense. That was like four games of output for the 2015 team. They are still looking for a RB-1. Marvin Zanders is the change of pace running QB and he had 47 yards rushing. It is good to mix him in now and then. The Tigers should be able to have a fine game against a MAC defense that gave up over 40 points per game last season. They do have a lot of experience, however, and the Tigers cannot afford to sleepwalk through this game.
Eastern Michigan offence vs Missouri defense
MEGALOCKS MAC DEEP INSIDERS are not sure who is going to get the call at QB for the Eagles. It appears as though HC Chris Creighton is trying to keep the Tigers guessing. Back-up Todd Porter looked fine last week in their week 1 game but there is no doubt they are better off with Brogan Roback under center. Emerging star RB Shaq Vann could have a good day against a Tigers defense that displayed a SOFT UNDERBELLY last week against the run.
Tasty Tidbits
Missouri is in the middle of a W Virginia / Georgia sandwich which makes them an automatic NO PLAY this week…..Missouri is 19-6-1 to the under last 26 games while E Michigan is 18-5 to the over L23 non-conference tilts….#confusion…..History majors will note that the Eagles only lost by 22 at LSU last season.
Summary
There is a case to be made for playing the dog in this one. We just want one of two things. Or both. Number 1 – Roback starts. Number 2 – line moves up a bit. Truthfully, the Roback wish is the big one. Missouri’s offense looked a lot better than last season’s version in week 1 they could just not score TDs. Lock should have a really good game. We have no idea if/how the E Michigan defense will hold up over 4 quarters.
Conclusion
No official play.
Lean: Lean to E Michigan at 24.5 or better. Cannot recommend the total until we know who the QB is going to be on Saturday.
