The Game
Boom ! This is going to be a fun game. Florida St already has a nice win under their belts (Ole Miss week 1) and the Cards have yet to be tested with games against Charlotte and Syracuse. This is a massively massive game with massive implications for the ACC Title chase.
The Match-Up
Florida St offense vs Louisville defense
As a Miami fan, it pains me to see the potential of QB Deondre Francois. Wow. The Seminoles are stocked with talent and have a great head coach. They were down 28-6 to Ole Miss and still won going away. The message ? The Cards need to play for four quarters (#HotTake).
Dalvin Cook has not got truly rolling yet and it might be due to offensive line play. Florida St is #99 in sacks allowed per game already this season and are only #78 in rushing offense. It is so very early to even mention these stats BUT the eye test confirms and AND Louisville’s defense is very disruptive. Louisville has 8 sacks already (vs weak competition) and allowed less than 50% completions to a very good Orange QB last week. The Cards’ defense has been solid for a number of years and will provide a stern test for the Seminoles.
Louisville offense vs Florida St defense
By now, everyone is aware of the video-game numbers that QB Lamar Jackson is putting up so far in 2016. Seven passing TDs to go along with 300 rushing yards and 6 more TDs. Jackson looks poised and confident. The Florida St defense did not really ‘wow’ us in week one and now they will be without star DB Derwin James. Florida St has nine sacks this season and can bring the heat but the Cards OL has only allowed one sack so far this season. The Noles cannot get too aggressive with Jackson and that makes us think the Cardinals will be able to MATRICULATE in the passing game. RB Brandon Radcliff is averaging 13.7 yards per carry after two games and their top three WR (yards) are averaging over 20 yards per reception.
MEGA morsels
Florida St has won the last two meetings 42-31 and 41-21…..Both teams take a ton of penalties and that should help the over if the boo-boos come on defense….This is QB Francois’ first true road game and it will be a tough one at Papa Jaaaaaaaahn Stadium……The Seminoles are 14-2 SU in the series…..Fun Fact to bore the neighbors….Cards kicker O’Hara has 17 XPs already. Now THAT is funny.
Summary
We have this one lined at a pick em and honestly believe each team would win 50 times if they played 100 times in some imaginary universe. We think the key match-up is the Louisville D vs the Florida St OL and that makes us lean to the Cardinals.
Conclusion
Official play: None yet. NOTE – Sunday Early Taster Club Members got a TASTE of Louisville +4.5 on Sunday. E-mail support (as noted in previous communication) if you want to be part of that club. Not everyone can get early lines and we can respect that.
Lean: Nothing at this number. Waiting for a Louisville +3.5 to make it an official play. We doubt that will occur but stranger things have happened.
