The Game

How do the Cowboys come back from the ultimate bad beat ? Full marks for Central Michigan to execute an amazing play to end the game, but the Cowboys mental state has to be in question after the big mistake by the refs last week. Yes, life goes on. Big 12 play lies ahead. More importantly, the Pitt Panthers come to town and they are not going to go quietly.

The Match-Up

Oklahoma St offense vs Pitt defense

Long time MEGALOCKS readers know that we really like HC Mike Gundy. We will try to remain focused and unbiased. What worries us so far is that they are ranked near the bottom of the FBS in rushing offense (?) and only managed 346 yards against the Chips last week. They do not have a 100 yard rusher and seem to be missing those typical Okie St freakshow WRs. They are also 115th in sacks allowed per game and Pitt is near the top of the FBS in sacks per game. This is going to be more of a struggle than we first thought.

Pitt offense vs Oklahoma St defense

Despite being ranked #99 in total offense, the Panthers have managed to score some points based on turnovers, special teams magic and efficient QB play. And it does not hurt to have James Conner in the backfield. The Panthers leading receiver is TE Scott Orndoff so they too are looking for a true #1 WR to emerge this season. We think the Cowboys’ defense can do a decent job, but to be honest, they are going to give up 20+ probably and will need to find some of that home field magic to get the offense rolling.

MEGA morsels

Oklahoma St was on a 25-1 SU run at home in non-conference games before that unfortunate loss last week to Central Michigan…..Okie St has Big 12 play on deck….Pitt is coming off a big win vs Penn St and had to travel west….Make sure to check the injury situation on the Pitt D if you plan on playing the total.

Summary

We were originally going to look strongly at the Cowboys figuring that Pitt would be in a bad spot after beating Penn St. We have no confidence in the ability of Cowboys to control the LOS on offense and cannot play them this week. The letdown spot for Pitt is also too much for us to handle. Sorry. Not much help here. Danger. Run away.
