Tulane at UCF – Preview and Prediction
UCF 14 TULANE (48)
Implied Projected Score: UCF 31 Tulane 17
MEGALOCKS LINE – UCF 13
The Game
The Vegas odds were 1,900,000-1 that Tulane and UCF would both enter this game 3-2. Yet, here we are. Assuming this game goes as planned on Friday night (hurricane concerns), this is going to be an important game in C-USA. UCF is a player in the wide-open C-USA East and Tulane is only three wins away from bowl eligibility under new HC Willie Fritz.
The Match-Up
UCF offense vs Tulane defense
The Knights have really got the ground game working this season under new HC Scott Frost (#25 FBS) and that will be the meal ticket on Friday night. Tulane has held up well defensively this season (#17 FBS) but have faced a fairly weak schedule (Navy, Wake, Southern, ULL, UMass). QB Mackenzie Milton is listed as questionable for this game but veteran Justin Holman is a capable back-up in terms of what they want to do on offense. Tulane has an experienced and over-achieving defense so UCF is going to have to work for what they get on offense. They will have to RELEASE THE KILLINS (RB Adrian Killins – 11.5 yards per carry) to get big plays.
Tulane offense vs UCF defense
All joking aside, there are certain teams that we just cheer for to win as many games as possible. We are thrilled to see Eastern Michigan dominating the scoreboard in 2016 and also love to see Tulane getting a shot at bowl eligibility. It’s a long way to go, but Tulane just needs to cobble three more wins together to get the magical 6th win.
We did not think former Georgia Southern head coach Willie Fritz would be able to get this team winning so quickly but here they are at 3-2. The competition has not been fierce, but wins are wins. The running game is ranked #17 in the FBS (#118 last season) and they will try and get things done against a solid UCF defense that is ranked #25 against the run. They also lead C-USA in TFL and sacks per game. The Green Wave is also gonna have their work cut out for them.
MEGA-MAZEMENT !
Last season’s meeting between these two teams featured a seemingly impossible 76 points (45-31)….hard to see that happening this time around…..UCF RB Andrew Killins is rumored to have completed the 40 yard dash in less than one second.
Summary
This is another week 6 spread that seems just a bit high. We prefer the total in this one assuming the game goes as planned.
Conclusion
Official play: None.
Lean: Under any number 47 or better. Waiting for official weather announcement on Wednesday.
