March Madness – Message for “Quality of Play Guy”
Now THAT was a great first two rounds of March MADNESS.
Our topic this time around may be a sensitive one, but nonetheless, it needs to be addressed.
DOWN with your pal, “Quality of Play” Guy
There is a popular HOT and SPICY take making the rounds that the “Quality of Play” in March Madness is leaving something to be desired. Missed free throws, blown leads, the HORROR. What will I do? Do I need to stop watching sports? Protest? Vandalize a department store? Sometimes it feels like everyone is SIMPLE JACK and there is no sanity left on the planet.
Poor quality of play. That is such a COOL STORY, but the staff at MEGALOCKS feel the need to take the other side of this opinion.
Reality check #1
This is incredibly entertaining television. It is without a doubt one of the most enjoyable events on the sports calendar. Every year. Hands down.
Reality check #2
These are essentially KIDS playing basketball. Heaven forbid they actually miss some free throws, or do the unthinkable, blow a lead. There is pressure, yo.
Reality check #3
Everyone wants excitement. For the LOVE of GOD, why are you complaining about missed free throws, blown leads and poor decisions when that is EXACTLY what makes this tournament special?
Reality check #4
Go pick on other sports. Hey, maybe even PROFESSIONAL ones. Have you watched some of the trash that the NFL puts out there? Sign me up for Bills/Jaguars playoff match-ups 24/7. You are lucky to find 3-4 games on any given Sunday that are worth watching. Fundamentals? Sure. And yes, these guys make bonehead plays, drop passes and make mistakes. NBA? Haaaa. <falls off chair> We have lost track of the crappy teams TANKING and the which of the good teams have stopped giving an effort in fear of not ready for the playoffs. How many teams in the NBA can you watch and say “that is great quality of play”?
Bottom line. Should these kids make more free throws? Sure. Should they hold on to huge leads with 11 minutes left? Sure. The point is, WHO CARES? These are kids playing basketball providing enjoyment for all of us AND they are giving MAX effort. Stop whining and enjoy. Come up with another “hot take”. Thanks! <drops mic>
UPDATE from the LINKS
We almost bagged some sweet 34-1 Stenson action but Rory was too good on Sunday. As we noted last Friday, there was plenty of opportunity to grab some world-class players (including Rory) via in-game wagering. It’s not quite “hedging”, but it is always good to keep some powder dry in case you have some equity to protect. We are taking the match-play week off but will be back ASAP with more golf DART THROWS.
