MLB tidbits – Saturday, April 27
Some quick thoughts on today’s MLB card. A couple of sentences detailing some of the stuff we considered.

Baltimore at Minnesota (2:10 pm)
Twins -244 Orioles +223
Epic SP mismatch with Berrios (4/5 QS; sub-3 ERA) vs Straily, although to be fair, Straily’s last two starts were decent…..Berrios has given up 6 DONGS already this season and there is some pop in the O’s lineup…..Not willing to pay the steep price of -244….Would consider around -200 but that isn’t happening, yo. Pass.
Detroit at Chicago (7:10 pm)
White Sox -136 Tigers +125
Looks like a PPD is in the cards according to our MLB Weather INSIDERS. Pass, even if it goes.
Cincinnati at St Louis (2:15 pm)
Cardinals -128 Reds +118
The Reds PUT IT ON the Cards last night scoring 12 (!) runs……HARD CONTACT GUY will note that Suarez is hammering baseballs right now…..Mahle has done a good job so far for the Reds (24-4 K to BB; 3.52 ERA) but will be put to the test vs the Cards offense…..Hudson is too erratic for our liking allowing 12 walks in 18.1 innings and an UNSEEMLY 8 DONGS. Line is very sharp. Reds are probably the side but we lined it at -125/+115 so don’t see much theoretical value. DFS guys and gals keep an eye on the weather (rain).
Oakland at Toronto (3:07 pm)
Athletics -106 Blue Jays -102
The Jays took the opener and made VLAD JR night a winning one…..Sometimes it pays to walk down NARRATIVE ST…….Jays now have a positive run differential and we did not see that coming….Playing scrappy, good pen and bats are coming alive…..The Sanchize is on the mound for Toronto but we do not like the 16-23 BB to K ratio not to mention the nonstop blisters and broken fingernails…..Anderson has been decent so far at SP and has only allowed one DINGER in 26 IP….Game feels like a toss-up and is lined that way. Pass.
San Diego at Washington (4:05 pm)
Nats -167 Padres +154
The underrated San Diego Padres got it done last night and beat the Nationals despite facing Mad Max…..Late inning DONG got it done…..Strasburg has had 2 good starts and 3 poor ones….the good news being that his last outing vs the Marlins was stellar (8 IP 2H 11 K)…..Nats now two games below .500 and have been sputtering for most of the season….Lauer has been ok so far and will look to get the Padres into the 6th inning or so and let the pen do the rest. We see a bit of value with the Padres but as you know we typically play favs. Pass.
Tampa Bay at Boston (4:05 pm)
Red Saaaax -133 Rays +122
Boston is four games back of the Rays and will try and cut into the deficit…..Nice P match-up as Price takes on Morton…..Price has been great in his last 2 starts (12 IP 8 H 2 BB 17 K and no DONGS)…..Morton has only had one bad start but that came vs these same Red Sox back on April 20……Lean to the Saaaaax but betting against Tampa Bay is usually never a good idea for the bankroll…..Rays 7-2 on the road…..Note that last time we checked strong wind blowing out to RF. Pass on this bad boy no wager.
Cleveland at Houston (4:05 pm)
Astros -134 Indians +124
The BIEBS takes the mound to try and give the Indians their 3rd straight (!) road win vs Houston…..Cleveland has spanked us two nights in a row and we may be stubborn, but we are not THAT stubborn and fade these guys today…..The BIEBS got his teeth kicked in last start vs Atlanta after rolling out three straight QS…..Peacock is decent but JAG (just a guy)…..Line looks about right to us……Indians playing with more spark since return of Lindor. Taking a seat. No wager.
New York Yankees at San Francisco (4:05 pm)
Giants -107 Yankees -101
Will ride with the Bronx Bombers again…..Everyone keeps telling us how crappy they are yet they are 8-2 L10 and boast a +29 run differential on the season despite 40,000 injured players…..The Giants are the Giants and unless the pitching match-up is really gross you have to play NY at this price…..Happ is meh but Holland is going for SF.
Miami at Philadelphia (6:05 pm)
Phillies -177 Marlins +162
Will take another shot with the Phillies….Arrieta still 100% in terms of QS and we love their ability to mash….Richards walks too many guys for our liking (16) and did not do that well in either of his last two outings. We have the game lined at -200.
WON’T HAVE TIME TO DO THE NIGHT SLATE……IF I WAGER AND GET ANY SWEET ACTION THO I WILL LET YOU KNOW AROUND 5PM.
update…….Nothing for the late games…..Not enough time to do proper capping…..Only game that stands out a bit is either a F5 ov or full game over Az/Cubs but i won’t be on it myself. GL!
