Tulane 45 UCF 28 – YES, GUY!…..College football is awesome….Tulane is off to the COTTON BOWL to take on the mighty USC Trojans…..They got revenge on UCF for the regular season defeat…..648-410 yard edge for Green Wave……254 rush, 394 pass…..Knights QB JR Plumlee had limited mobility and was ineffective throwing the ball……backup did not go…3rd stringer was bad…….Tulane QB M Pratt 294, 4 TD, RB T Spears 199 rush.
ACC
Clemson 39 North Carolina 10 – nice bounce back for the Tigers! ACC Champs once again…..Misleading final tho….386-385 yd edge for UNC but they were (-3) in turnovers…..Break-out game for Clemson’s future starting QB Cade Klubnik…..20/24 279 1-0 TD to INT…..Tigers off to the Orange Bowl to battle Tennessee……that should be a DING DONGER!
Big 12
Kansas St 31 TCU 28 – WHAT a GAME! 2nd year in a row where one team comes soooooo close to winning…..Congrats to Kansas St and their fans…..Rock solid program…..469-404 yd edge for TCU but a couple of turnovers and missed opportunities were the difference…..Wildcats lost star WR M Knowles during the game…..Max Duggan put the team on his back in the 4Q and posted the majority of his 110 rushing yards in that frame…..TCU stopped at goal line in OT…..Kansas St wins with a FG…..TCU off to the CFP to take on Michigan…..Kansas St will battle ROLL TIDE in the Sugar Bowl.
Big Ten
Michigan 43 Purdue 22 – Wolverines keep on rolling and make it BACK-TO-BACK JACKS…..Led 14-13 at half and then blew the game open in 2nd half…..Another misleading final…..Purdue right there after one half and won the yardage battle 456-386…….366 pass yards for A O-Connell but 2 INT (0 TD)….D Edwards 25-185 rush in place of star RB B Corum……Michigan will face TCU in the CFP.
Conference USA
UTSA 48 North Texas 27 – Roadrunners win the title again!……North Texas gave it their best for most of the game but UTSA made more stops on D and couldn’t be stopped on offense…..571-366 yard edge for UTSA…..227 rush 344 pass…..Mean Green HC Seth Littrell was fired two days after the game…..He was 44-44 in seven seasons with North Texas.
MAC
Toledo 17 Ohio 7 – Rockets take it down!…..10-7 at the half very even and hard fought game…..Rockets D was stellar again 2nd half whilst Ohio’s D eventually got worn down after holding the Bobcats in the game for a long time……10-7 at half….Toledo 4Q TD to get the cover that they deserved…..390-262 yd edge.
Buffalo 23 Akron 22 – Bulls become bowl eligible by the skin of their teeth!……Winning TD with about a min left…..Acrobatic play by WR Q Williams to break the plane of the goal line…..306-291 yd edge for Zips…..Buffalo will take on G Southern in the Camellia Bowl….Akron could make a good move forward in 2023!
Mountain West
Fresno St 28 Boise St 16 – Bulldogs do it again!…..Take down Boise on the blue turf for all the marbles…..Misleading final…..Boise dominating the game but only up 3-0 near end of first half…..You go to the fridge for a snack……next thing you know….PR TD for Fresno…..7-3……INT return inside the 20…..14-3 Fresno….Boise tried to battle back but the Fresno St D was just too good in the 2nd half…..Boise won the yardage battle 321-245 but were (-2) in t/o and settled for too many FGs.
PAC 12
Utah 47 USC 24 – Trojans started fast and led 17-3……then GLUG GLUG GLUG……PAC 12 title and CFP berth goes down the drain….Utah iced game with FOUR TD in 4Q…..533-419 yd edge for Utah and another PAC 12 title!!!….Trojans star QB C Williams played hurt but the defense was more brutal than usual….USC off to Cotton Bowl to face Tulane in a potential letdown spot….Utah goes back to the Rose Bowl to battle a hot Penn St squad….let’s gooooo!
SEC
Georgia 50 LSU 30 – Dawgs build up 35-10 halftime lead and coast for the SEC title!….LSU won the yardage battle 549-529 and kept coming in the 2nd half behind backup QB G Nussmeier who looked really good….15/27 294 2-1 TD to INT…..Georgia did what they had to do and face Ohio St in the CFP……Tigers will battle Purdue in a very interesting Citrus Bowl.
Sun Belt
Troy 45 Coastal Carolina 26 – YES, GUY……Trojans with a dominating win for MEGALOCKS FUTURES CLUB members…..Jumped out to a 31-CACK (!) lead but the Chants kept fighting behind star QB G McCall who did indeed give it a go…..He started slow but finished with over 300 pass yards…..432-411 yd edge for Coastal but were (-2) in t/o and couldn’t overcome brutal start…HC Jamey Chadwell is off to Liberty…..Veteran OC Tim Beck comes from NC State to take over Chants head coaching gig.

Ohio +3 (L) – battled for the entire game but were stifled by a tough Toledo D and overly-conservative play calling.
Boise St -3 (L) – easily won the yardage battle and should have taken a sizeable lead in first half but full marks to the Fresno St defense…..Dats gamblin’ yo.

Solid year for LEAN CLUB members on high volume. Wish we could have had more LEAN CLUB picks get into the BIGGIE SIZE category but sometimes that happens in a relatively small sample of 40 or so games.

Fresno St +275 to win Mountain West – WINNER! And no hedge. Sadly our play on Boise St -3 didn’t get to the window but at least we didn’t become UNLUCKY PIERRE with a one or two point Broncos win.
Troy +1000 to win Sun Belt. WINNER! And minimal hedge.
TCU +1250 to win Big 12 – Lost in OT but we got our investment back on a Kansas St +2 hedge and it wasn’t unthinkable late in the game that we could hit a BETTE MIDDLLERR with a Wildcats one-point win.
